James W. "Jim" Kerr, 101, of Garrettsville, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2022, to be reunited again with his dear wife, Goldie. He was born October 13, 1920, in Cadiz, OH, to the late Wesley and Susan (nee Perry) Kerr.
He was a U.S. Air Corps WWII veteran, who was enlisted 1942-1945, and was a Staff Sergeant with the 339th Fighter Group and 503rd Squadron. Jim was a carpenter by trade; he would say it wasn't like work because he enjoyed it so much. His projects included the construction of Blossom Music Center and Sea World, as well as many homes in the area. Jim was a humble man who never complained and always wore a smile. He often mentioned that his family and friends were his life. Jim enjoyed golfing with friends and rooting for his Pittsburgh Steelers.
Jim will be deeply missed by his children, William Kerr, and Laura (Terry) McHone, with whom he resided with the past 5 years; grandchildren, Kelly (Sherry) Kerr, James Kerr, Carletta Kerr, Shannon (David) Norman, Corey (Carisa) Kerr, Cody Kerr, Emma Kerr, and Corrie McHone, as well as 4 great-grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; dearest wife, Goldie; son, David, and siblings, Raymond Kerr, Richard Kerr, Virginia Kerr, Mary Kulesza, and Dorothy Barholt.
