James T. Mitchell, age 54, of Lodi, OH passed away May 18, 2016. He was born July 20, 1961 to Robert and Georgiana (nee Zak) Mitchell.
James was a U.S. Army veteran. He served for 15 years as a Combat Engineer (aka Sapper). He proudly served in Kentucky, Texas, Germany, and in the Desert Storm conflict. Sergeant Mitchell was a leader for operations, platoons, and squads, performing such tasks as demolitions, road set-up and construction, and bridge site layout. In Macedonia, he served as Engineer Advisor during Operation Joint Endeavor. James was an avid fisherman, a 1980 graduate of Brunswick HS, and a maintenance technician for Plastipak Packaging, Inc. since 1999.
He is survived by his father, Robert; daughters, Amanda (Woody) Will and Megan (Tim) Casten; brothers, Robert, David (Jody); sister, Michele (Ron) Foster; step-mother, Nancy; step-brother, Toland (Catherine) Wilkins; step-sister, Korin (Jay) Reed; former wife, Cheryl; and four grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his mother; and sisters, Georgiana Brainard and Valerie Agin.
Friends may join the family for a visitation, Wednesday, May 25, from 6-8 pm at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick, OH 44212. A private burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
