James "Big Jim" C. Percher, age 74, of Valley City, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Medina Hospital. He was born on October 17, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Casmir and Alberta Percher. Jim was a resident of Valley City/Brunswick area since he was 9 years old.
He served in the United States Army from 1966-1968. Jim was employed in the construction business, building bridges and highways. He was a member of the American Legion #234, National Rifle Association, and the Trappers and Hunting Club. Big Jim enjoyed fishing, hunting and trapping, loved his college, Alabama football, and enjoyed the Browns. Big Jim was a social people person.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Sharon (nee Dalton); dear children, James Jr. (Ana), Cassandra (Maurice) Patton and Joseph (Melisa) Percher; cherished grandchildren, Ashley, Cheyenne, Amanda Percher, Anyssa, Aaron Patton, Briana Percher, and Cameren Percher; great grandchild, Ambrose Johnson; and sister, Sandra Chidsey.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Percher; sister, Mary Ann; two dear great granddaughters.
The family will receive friends for "Big Jim" on Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 4:00 PM -7:00 PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, Brunswick (1/2 mile south of Route 303). Funeral services will take place on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 11:00 am in the funeral home, burial in Eastlawn Cemetery will follow.
