James D. Smith, age 60 of Windham, passsed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 24, 2013. He was born April 10, 1953 in Pikeville, KY to James H. and C. Rita (Maynard) Smith.
Jim served in the U.S. Air Force for over 10 years during the Vietnam Era. He was a machinist by trade and liked to tinker with electronics. He enjoyed movies, TV, working with cards and billiards.
Jim is survived by his sisters, Diane (Ron) Martin of Twinsburg, Sandy (Richard) Hartung of Geneva, and Sheila (David) Lester of Garrettsville; brothers, Delmar Smith of Warren and Vaughn K. Smith of Cleveland; daughter, Charlene (Ross) Goddard Sloan of Bristolville; and grandchildren, Kayla, Caleb, MacKenzie, and Ian Sloan.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Sunday October 27, 2013 from 3-5 PM with the funeral service immediately following at 5 PM at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St.,Garrettsville, Ohio 44231. Interment will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013 at 2:30 PM at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Please join the family at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Rd. (corner of Rt. 18 & River Styx Rd.) Medina, Ohio 44256 one hour before the service for a procession to the cemetery.
