James L. "Jim" Soltis Sr., 91, of Parkman, passed away from natural causes on April 23, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 13, 1919 to Frank and Mary (Kedzuch) Soltis Sr. in Parkman, OH.
James was a farmer and milk hauler. He was a lifetime member of St.Edward's Catholic Church in Parkman. James was a dedicated and loving husband to his beloved wife Hazel for over 65 years and he was blessed with "the most loving, perfect wife a man could ask for." He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the Browns, Indians, and Ohio State games, but James most cherished watching his family's sporting events. James was a hard working, productive man who always helped his family any way he could. He most treasured his beloved family and friends.
He is survived by his children Charlie (Susan) Soltis of Marion, Donnie (Jill) Soltis of Oberlin, Linda (Jerry) Jacobs of Parkman, Gene (Fiancee' Roxanne Kaufman) Soltis of Huntsburg, Jimmy Soltis Jr. of Parkman; sister Bernice Baptie of Burton; 17 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren and two on the way; sisters-in-law Bernice Soltis and Virginia (Karlo) Maki; and brother-in-law Lloyd White.
James was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Hazel (Hillock) in 2007; brothers Frank, Emil, and Edward Soltis; sisters Helen Lee, Agnes White, and Rose Donaldson, and his daughter-in-law Bonnie Soltis.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Thursday, April 28, 2011, from 3-8 P.M. at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. Please meet at St. Edward's Catholic Church in Parkman for Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 29, 2011, at 11 A.M with Fr. John Burkley officiating. Burial will follow at Overlook Cemetery in Parkman.
