James E. Wade, 80 of Hiram, Ohio died at his home Wednesday morning, August 29th after a brave battle with lung cancer.
He was born on July 30, 1932 in Maple Hts., OH, the son of the late William and Agnes (Scott) Wade.
He was retired from the Ravenna Post Office. James was a US Navy veteran serving as a metal smith aboard the USS Missouri during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid golfer, a member of St. Joseph’s Church in Mantua.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Ruby (Shaw) Wade of Hiram, daughters Laura (Bobbay) Townes of Akron, Sharon (Mark) Knight of Bozeman, MT, Karen Wade/Rick Holestine of Ravenna, Cathy (Chuck) Dowdy of Ravenna, Maria (Tim) Bailey of Ravenna; son James S. Wade of Chula Vista, CA; sister Rosalee Ennemoser of Streetsboro; 13 grandchildren: Rachael Mitchell, Rebecca Gillette, Renee Owens, Nick, Ben and Katelyn Knight, Cory, Ashley and Brittani Dowdy, Terry Painley, Donald Holestine, Virginia Davidson and James Stephens; step-grandson, Dustin Bailey; and six great-granddaughters.
Preceeding him in death was a daughter, Renee’ C. Wade; siblings, Bill and John Wade, Ella Mae Persin and Aileen Hanus.
Calling hours are 2-5 PM on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM on Tuesday, Sept. 4 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 11045 St. Joseph Blvd., Mantua, OH 44255 with Rev. Michael Garvey officiating.
