JANICE MARY LOGSDON

November 14, 1952 — March 13, 2018

Janice Mary Logsdon (nee Horton), age 65, of Medina, passed away in her sleep the morning of March 13, 2018, after a yearlong battle with lymphoma. Born on November 14, 1952, in Middleburg Heights, OH, to the late Robert and Estelle (nee Dziedzicki) Horton.

Born the eldest of three siblings, Jan grew up in Middleburg Heights, Ohio. She attended Ohio Dominican University, where she met her partner and lifelong love of 42 years, David.

Janice was known for her precise intellect and friendly, caring manner. Those who knew her best could count on an easy smile and an ever-ready listening ear. She was direct and honest, someone who fiercely defended her beliefs. She would always hear both sides of a story and was unafraid to share her opinion.

Jan was creative, quick witted, an avid reader, and a supporter of her local library. She celebrated the small things in life. A gardener and lover of flowers, Jan cared deeply for nature and its conservation. She volunteered at her CSA, supported local farmers, and championed a healthy, more sustainable lifestyle.

Many enjoyed a holiday hosted by her and delighted in the home-made meals she routinely crafted. Always the most gracious host, cooking was a lifelong passion for her. That passion stemmed from a desire to take care of the people she loved.

From her philanthropic deeds to her signature style and loving personality, Jan has left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Those close to her knew her to be a compassionate, sensitive, and trustworthy friend. At the time of her passing, she was surrounded in love by her children and husband.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Estelle (nee Dziedzicki) Horton, as well as her brother William Horton. She is survived by her husband David Logsdon, her three children, Catherine, Michael and John Luke, and her brother Robert Horton.

Mom,
You’re the first face I can remember.
With warmth you frequently smiled.
I love when you’d call for whatever,
and we would chat about life for a while.

Your lessons ring true every day
about family, caring, and love.
Spending time with you, I can say
is something I never tire of.

How I wish we could have just a few more hours.
I owe so much of myself to you,
from a love of gardens and flowers,
to always sharing my food.

No matter where I go or who I meet,
no matter what person I become,
I’ll feel you with every passing heartbeat.
You’ll never stop being my mom.

Friends may join the family for calling hours, Friday, March 16th, 2018, from 2PM to 7PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, OH 44256.
