City:GarrettsvilleVisitation Details:Service Details:Celebration of Jeff's Life Sunday, July 10,2011 at the family residencePhoto: Obituary:Jeffrey Paul Downing Jeffrey Paul Downing, 63, of Garrettsville, OH passed away at his residence on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 with his loving family and friends by his side. He was born January 21, 1948 at Jameson Hospital in New Castle, Pennsylvania to Richard Roy and Irene (Galant) Downing. He became an Eagle Scout at 13 and graduated from Neshannock High School in 1965. He then graduated from Youngstown University in 1969. Jeff worked at Flow Line and Rockwell in New Castle, PA and opened a Rockwell plant in Rock Hill, SC. He held a management position at True Temper in Anderson, SC and at Nucor Bearing Co. in Wilson, NC. He has been President and CEO at Ohio Star Forge in Warren, Ohio, a subsidiary of Daido Steel in Nagoya, Japan for 15 years. His position title alone cannot adequately describe the prolific impact that Jeff had on the people around him. He was a unique individual. Jeff was a born leader whose benevolence and wisdom was felt by all who knew him. Jeff leaves to carry on his memory, his wife, June Lucas Downing of Garrettsville, OH ; mother Irene (Galant ) Downing; two daughters, Allyson (Ryan) Cook and Michelle (Ashley) Haynes and three grandchildren, Emerson Cook, James Cook, and Elliot Haynes; brother, Jay (Patty) Downing; aunts Marie Mariache and Peggy Downing; nieces and nephews Lucas and Leonardo DiLena, Evan and Abbey Downing, Dara Bowen, Gail Lamm, and Rachel Lamm; his in-laws, J.L. ( Joanne) Lucas; sister-in-laws Gloria (Tom) Terry, Drucilla (Brad) Lamm and Leticia DiLena; the Posse Brothers, Billy Orbach, Pat Billups and Carl Paglia. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Downing, and a son, Paul.
