On Sunday, September 13th, 2020, Jerry Kolar, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away at the age of 80.
Jerry was born on January 30th, 1940 in Independence, Ohio where he grew up and met his late wife Diana (nee Ganley). He and Diana married on May 16, 1959 and raised their four children in Maple Heights and later Hinckley. In May of 1972, Jerry founded and opened K&K Portage Market in the West Park neighborhood of Cleveland.
Jerry dedicated his life to his family and business and never fully retired from working at K&K alongside his sons and grandchildren. He was well loved in the West Park community and a cherished mentor to countless former employees. He loved spending time with his immediate and blended family at his lake house in Catawba, OH and with his friends in Florida over the winter months.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Yaro and Isabella, and wife Diana. He is survived by his children, Jerry (Linda), Richard (Pamela), Suzanne Illencik (Joe), John (Kathy), brother Dennis (Sarah), grandchildren Jason, Erik, Joe, Lauren, Rick, Audrey, Christian, Logan, Ryan, Kristin, Lauren, and great grandchild Catalina. He will be lovingly remembered by Holly Nanasy and her family, Wendy (Scott), Megan (Mike), and grandchildren Olivia, Maddie, Quinn, and Kira.
A wake will be held Wednesday, September 16,2020 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 5:00pm-8:00pm at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Rd, Brunswick, OH 44212.
Friends may also call from 10:00-10:45am on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Our Lady of Grace Church, 1088 Ridge Road Hinckley, OH 44233, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am with burial at Maple Hill Cemetery.
