JEWEL H. THOMPSON

Jewel H. Thompson (nee Hackave), age 94, of Brunswick, passed away August 20, 2017. She was born September 12, 1922 in Cleveland to the late Stefan and Anna (nee Lakan) Hackave.

Jewel graduated from Jane Adams Vocational School. She proudly served her country as a “Rosie Riveter” at the tank plant during World War II. She was employed as a seamstress. Jewel was a member of the St. Ambrose Catholic Church Women’s Guild, The Tops Club, and the Pinochle Group at the Brunswick Recreation Center. She also enjoyed Bingo. Jewel will be fondly remembered as “Nanny” to her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an avid Cleveland Indians fan who followed them not only at home, but attended many away games as well. Jewel was always involved in her community and she especially enjoyed spending time with her family who were very important to her.

She will be dearly missed by her beloved daughter, Sue (John) Harenda; grandchildren, Dana (Tony) Camino, John (Rachel) Harenda, Jeffrey Thompson; great grandchildren, Kira Camino, Tony Camino, Cash Harenda, Allen Harenda, Ben Harenda, Justin Thompson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sons, Dennis Thompson, Gregory Thompson; granddaughter, Michelle Thompson; siblings, Leah Kovach, Margaret Arnold, Joseph Hackave, Steve Hackave, Jack Hackave.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 25, 2017 from 3 to 8 pm at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Rd, Brunswick, OH 44212. Family and friends will pay their last respects Saturday, August 26, 2017 at 10:45 am at the funeral home, then proceed to St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Rd in Brunswick for Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland.
