JILLIAN SCHRADER TOWNE
May 20, 1964 — February 26, 2019
Jillian Schrader Towne, 54, passed away February 26, 2019 at home, surrounded by her family and friends, after a one-year battle with cancer. Jill was born May 20, 1964 in Sterling Illinois to Keith and Leadelle (Shippee) Schrader.
Jill graduated from Sterling High School and attended Illinois State University on a golf scholarship. She graduated with a BA and MA in math and math education. She was an Academic All-American and captain of the golf team. After moving to Colorado, she met her husband and left full-time teaching. She continued to inspire youth as a math tutor and college instructor at Walsh University and University of Akron Wayne College.
Jill was an enthusiastic volunteer for the Medina United Methodist Church, school groups, and the Boy Scouts. She pushed students to better themselves in math and science, spending many months with the Science Olympiad teams at Root Middle School and Medina High School. It was her goal to help students, especially young women, excel in STEM. She enjoyed travel, golf, bicycling, hiking, camping, skiing, walks with friends, and being outdoors. Jill was a loyal friend with deep faith and a huge heart.
Jill will be deeply missed by her loving husband of 23 years David; her children, Megan and Brian; her mother, Lee Schrader; siblings, David Schrader, Sue (Jason) Burger, Lynn (Clark) Johnson, Kim (Dan) Fauth, and Martin (Cheryl) Schrader; in-laws, Jeffrey and Janet Towne; and many nieces and nephews.
She was proceeded in death by her father Keith, and her grandparents.
A Celebration of Jill's Life will be held Sunday, March 10th, 2019 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at the Medina United Methodist Church, 4747 Foote Rd, Medina, OH. A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00PM. Interment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, OH, 44256.
