John Irvin Ross, age 80, of Strongsville, Ohio passed away on September 18, 2018. He was born on May 30, 1938 in Johnstown, PA, to the late Hugh and Blodwyn (nee Wherry) Ross.
John was a Marine Veteran and retired Steel Rule Die maker. He enjoyed old country music, playing his guitars and bowling but his passion was always golf. He lived a wonderful retired life, golfing and working the dream job at Royal Crest Golf Course, his second home, where he had many friends. Even when John could no longer walk the golf course he still rode in his cart, enjoying golf for as long as he could. Not one to sit around and up at the crack of dawn, his family will always remember his phrase "Let’s get moving, we’re burning daylight!”
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 60 years, Janet (nee Hallo); daughter, Robin (Mark) Patrick; grandchildren, Nathan, Lena, Matthew and Katarina; brothers, Richard Ross, Clair Chapman, William Chapman; sisters, Mildred Hedrick and Dorothy Trescott.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert "Bob" Ross; and sisters, Ethel Peebles and Darlene Chapman.
Friends may join the family for a Celebration of John’s Life on October 6, 2018 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick, OH 44212. A Memorial Service will follow at 1:00 pm.
