John Makar, 93, of Garrettsville, formerly of Garfield Hts., passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2014. He was born May 24, 1920 in Cleveland, Ohio to Nicholas and Anna Makar.
John served in the U.S. Coast Guard in WWII and was a packer at Air Maze. He was a member of Post 2079 in Garfield Hts. and enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his daughters, Sherri (Jim) Novak of Garrettsville, Sandra Ambrose of Garfield Hts. and Debra (Adam) Rutter of SC; grandchildren, Tammy (Bill) Hickman, Matthew (Sara) Gillihan, Michell (Mark) Campbell, Tiffany (John) Byrum, Marc Angel; and 13 great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife, Rosemary, a daughter, Bonnie Makar, four brothers and two sisters.
Calling hours are 5-7 PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. Funeral Services will follow at 7 PM at the funeral home with Fr. Leo Wehrlin officiating.
