John F. Severt, 84, of Garrettsville, passed away Monday, May 2, 2022. He was born March 20, 1938, in Johnson County, Tennessee, to the late Sheridan and Ida (nee Blevins) Severt.
He was surrounded by a large and loving family. As a young man, John accepted Christ as his Savior. His lifelong passion and love for Christ was something he discussed with everyone he met. John wrote songs for family members and his love for music is something he passed down to his family. He gave every member of the family a special name and a special place in his heart. John celebrated family, friendships and every new acquaintance was quickly made a friend. He loved and devoted himself to his family and always said, "He was the most blessed man who ever lived." In service to the Lord, many will say, "John was my Sunday school teacher, my church bus driver, my youth leader" or one of the many roles he filled over the years. In recent years, when asked how he was feeling, John always said, "I am fantastic for the shape I am in." Now in Heaven, we can only imagine how truly "fantastic" he is for the shape he is in.
John is survived by his wife and best friend, Barbara Ann (nee Hand), whom he married on October 27, 1959; sons, Jeff (Wendy), Jim (Stacey), Tim (Beth Ann), and Kenny (Pennie); grandchildren Joy (Barry), Samuel (Meredith), Cody (Brittany), Andrew (Melissa), Leanna (Jared), Brandon, Nathan, Colton, Grace (Matt), JarredLee (Cheyenne), Alyssa, Jessalyn (Jordan), Kendalyn, Sydney, and Sierra; 25 great-grandchildren, and many nephews, nieces, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
