Joseph Patrick Conroy, age 87, of Brunswick, passed away on January 13, 2019. He was born on March 14, 1931 in Cleveland, OH to the late John and Kathleen (nee Wallace) Conroy.
Joseph graduated from St. Ignatius High School and attended Kent State University. He joined the US Air Force and was a Korean War Veteran. Joseph worked at Ford and Chevrolet. He went on to own his own business for 30 years, Brunswick Disposal. He was inducted into the Brunswick Area Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame 2000. Joseph established the Medina County Chapter for Ducks Unlimited and enjoyed hunting with the dogs he bred and trained. Joseph was a race car driver, mechanic and car owner. He started his racing career in the 50’s when he was stationed in Montana, then raced locally. In 1997, Joseph invented and patented the racing device, Conroy Pneu Control.
He will be dearly missed by his beloved life partner, Karen Harlinski; his daughter, Cheryl; sons Joseph Jr. (Sherri) and Jeffrey Conroy; grandchildren, Erin, Joseph III, Jack, Mackenzie and Jordan Conroy.
Joseph was preceded in death by his siblings; Jack (Agnes) Conroy, Kathleen (Donald) Haaning, William Conroy and Mary Eileen Conroy.
Friends may join the family for a Visitation and Memorial Service on Saturday, February 2, 2019, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick, OH 44212. Friends are invited to join the family afterwards for a Celebration of Joe's Life at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 349 Pearl Rd., Brunswick.
The family suggests donations be made in Joseph’s name to his favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital,
