JOSEPH H. SCHAEFER

Joseph H. Schaefer 76 of LaGrange, passed away on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Elyria Memorial Hospital. He was born February 18, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio to Joseph Schaefer and Gertrude (nee Thomas).
Mr. Schaefer was a Veteran of the United States Navy and Army. He worked in maintenance at the Parma General Motors Plant retiring in 1987 after 30 years. He was a Local U.A.W. #1005 member. Joseph enjoyed attending all types of auctions and flea markets, restoring cars and fishing.
He will be truly missed by his wife of 40 years as of January 23, 1970, Diana (nee Tyson) children; Terry Schaefer of LaGrange, Deborah Waltzer of FL, Michael Schaefer of Fairview Park, grandchildren; Maximus Waltzer, Katherine Schaefer, Nicholas (wife Tracie) Schaefer, great-grandchildren and his many nieces and nephews, siblings John (wife Sharon) Schaefer of Brunswick, Elizabeth (husband James) Yatson of LaGrange, Mary (husband Ronald-Deceased) Victor of Cleveland, Delores (husband James) Cole of Cuyahoga Falls, Darlene Schaefer of LaGrange, caregiver Ronnie and Koda "Mans best friend".
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Calvin, Charles and Cythia Moore.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 from 5 to 8 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile South of Route 303), Brunswick. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at 9:30 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Hartshorn of Litchfield Assembly of God Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society- Medina Portage Summit 1900 W. Market St. Akron, Ohio 44313-6927.
