Joseph L. Visscher, 78 of West Salem, passed away on Monday January 4, 2010 at Hospice of Medina County at the Inn. He was born in Highland Park, Michigan on November 28, 1931 to Jacob and Cornelia (nee VanderHorst) Visscher.
Mr. Visscher served the United States Navy and was Owner/Sales Manager of National Tool & Manufacturing. Joseph was an avid Sailor, and to all who knew him “Just a Wonderful Guy” and loving family man.
He is survived by beloved wife, Carol (nee Simmons) of 57 years, children; Kim (husband Steve) Neff, Eric (wife Dee)Visscher, Karee Visscher, Kurt (wife Lisa) Visscher and Kristi (husband Paul) Deka, grandchildren; Adam, Joe, Greg, Michelle, Brad, Luke, Stephanie, Max and Ashley, great-grandchildren; Dylan, Gracie, Chase, Ivey, Piper, Sage, Jillian, Kala, Zane, Alex, Ruby, Ava, Trevan, Samantha, Alexis.
Preceding Joseph in death were his parents, and siblings; Mae and Nita, former daughter-in-law Denise (nee Ross) Visscher and his dog Sailor who was his “Best Friend”.
Friends may join the family for Memorial Visitation on Saturday, January 16, 2010 from 3:00 to 4:00 PM with service to follow at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road (corner of Rt. 18 and River Styx Rds) Medina. Burial of cremains will be at later date in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio.
