Joyce U. Jones, 91, of Chesterland, OH, and formerly of West Haven, CT, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Hospice of the Western Reserve David Simpson House. She was born on February 16, 1931, in West Haven, CT, to the late Otto and Luthera (nee Bushnell) Ulrich.
She worked for the Southern New England Telephone Company before starting a family of her own after marriage to her husband, Everett "Jim" Jones. They were married in 1950. Joyce was a foster parent to many infants numbering in the twenties. After moving to Ohio in 1972, she was employed in the General Development Department at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, in which she said opened her eyes to the world. After retirement, Joyce went back to the museum and volunteered in the membership department. She also supported and enjoyed her membership with her husband in the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors Chapter #28. Joyce's greatest gift was her selfless service to others and being the best household engineer.
Joyce will be greatly missed by her daughter, Jocelyn (Frank) Gharky, granddaughter, Justine (Matt White) LeRoy, and great-grandson, John Lennon.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Everett "Jim", and daughter, Judy Reynolds.
Friends may join the family for a Memorial Service on Friday, August 5, 2022, at 11 A.M. at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 17989 Chillicothe Rd., Auburn Twp., OH 44023. The service will be available to be viewed via live stream by going to

. Inurnment will take place privately and at a later date in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH, with her proud Marine Corps husband, Everett "Jim" Jones. Care for Joyce was entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.
