JUDY LYNN MAYIRAS

Judy L. Mayiras, 79, of Medina passed away on March 9, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was born October 10, 1941 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Robert & Ruth (nee DeCrane) Burtnett.

Judy earned her Bachelors Degree from St. John College in Cleveland and her Masters Degree in Education from Kent State University. She was a born teacher, teaching in Public and Catholic schools and teaching CCD for 50 years in the Cleveland, Akron and Medina areas. She was a master gardener and enjoyed caring for the gardens at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Judy was multi-talented and could do anything from baking amazing treats to roofing your house.

Judy's memory will be deeply cherished by her loving husband James, with whom she was blessed to share 56 years of marriage; children, Christine (Timothy) Whitcraft and James; grandchildren, Erika, Ryan, Brandon, Andrew and Tyler; daughter-in-law Becky McGrath and siblings Kathy (Tom) Krupitzer, Bob (Rhonda) Burtnett, Carol Burtnett, Donald Burtnett, Joan (Gerry) Laschinger/Thomas, Mary (Doug) Mapes, Sue (Vince) DiDonna, and Eileen Moran.

She was preceded in death by parents Robert and Ruth Burtnett, In-Laws Sam and Helen Mayiras, children Jennifer Mayiras, Michael Mayiras and siblings Peggy (Scott) McKinley, Barbara (Greg) Kessinger.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the excellent care given by Cleveland Clinic Medical staff and especially: Dr. Ali, Dr. Dawson, Dr. Krupitzer, Dr. Tulisiak, Dr. Wanek. Thanks and appreciation to Fr. Tony Sejba, Bruce Baumgardner and Ann Salek for their terrific guidance and support.

Please join the family for a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 10:00 am until 11:00 AM with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church 606 E. Washington St. Medina, Ohio 44256. Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed. For those who would prefer, if concerned about Covid 19, you can participate in mass from the safety of your car in the church parking lot. You will be able to tune into radio station to hear the funeral mass and communion can be distributed in the parking lot as well.
