KAREN CARLSON

June 28, 1948 — July 14, 2023

Karen Carlson, 75, of Medina, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023, at her residence. She was born on June 28, 1948, to the late Edward and Betty (Hummel) Chapman.

An award-winning baker and maker of many magical Christmases, she was a nurturing mother, generous sister, loving aunt, loyal friend, and storybook grandma. Always eager to celebrate life’s milestones alongside her loved ones, her genuine laugh and a warm smile pulled family in, and her legendary cakes and cookies made them stay.

With built-in optimism and fortitude to weather the peaks and valleys of life, she tirelessly cared for those she loved, never asking for anything in return. She was passionate about helping things grow — both her garden and her family. Nothing brought her more pride than her four grandchildren, who were the center of her world.

She is deeply missed by her daughter, Kelly (Kerry) Gump, son Bradley (Cynthia) Carlson, and doted-upon grandchildren Jacob Gump, Samuel Gump, Adelaide Carlson, and Dorothy Carlson.

Active in her church (St. Colette) and holding a deep faith, she has been called home and now joins all those that preceded her, including Edward Chapman (father); Betty Sellman (mother); Shirley Hofer (sister); Bonnie Chapman (sister); Darla Hofer (niece); and Chuck Hofer (nephew).

A private service will be held to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, Karen would appreciate a donation in her name to the American Cancer Society https://donate.cancer.org/ . You can also contact the family at KarenLCarlsonMemorial@gmail.com to share stories and/or condolences.
