LEFA E. ZIMMER
April 7, 1919 — January 3, 2017
Lefa E. Zimmer, 97, of Freedom, passed away on January 3, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 7, 1919 to Victor and Mary (Edwards) Jones in Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania.
She was a member of the Literary Music Club, Society for the Blind and Dustman’s Deputies. Lefa enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, ceramics, traveling and her dogs and cats. She was a crack shot and enjoyed target shooting with her great grandchildren. Lefa loved spending time with her family and friends.
Lefa is survived by her children, Donald (Grace) Whitmore of Cumberland and Carol Scerba of Freedom; grandchildren, Kristine (Bruno) Thut and Richard Whitmore and great grandchildren, Renee, Rachael, Nick and Jean Pierre Thut.
She was preceded in death by her previous husband, Donald Whitmore and husband, Russell Zimmer; brother, Harry; sisters, Francis, Kay, Esther, Hazel and son-in-law, Lee.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 12-2 PM at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio. Services to begin at 2 PM at the funeral home with Rev. Fred Bell officiating. Burial to follow at Drakesburg Cemetery.
