Leslie M. Hotchkiss, age 90, of Medina, passed away on December 14, 2019. He was born on April 24, 1929, in Cleveland, OH to the late Frank and Marie (nee Chabek).
He served his country in the U.S. Navy, Merchant Marines, during the Korean War. Les was deeply patriotic. He had a charismatic personality and comedic charm that made for countless lasting friendships and close family ties. Les had a passionate love for golf and played an incredible amount of golf at the age of 90. In addition to golf, Les loved feeding and attracting many species of birds and woodpeckers. He retired from Independence Excavating as a superintendent. With an unstoppable work ethic, post retirement jobs included golf course management and being a business owner.
Les will be dearly missed by his loving children, Rick, Karen (Jeff) Collins, Bret (Gina) and Brad (Renee); grandchildren, Shane, Chad, Kelly, Katie, Rick, Spencer, Karla and Alex; great-grandchildren, Shelby, Jackson, Dominic, Samantha and Ricky and great-great-grandchild Brody.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Virginia “Ginny”; his siblings, Howard, Art, Harry, Gene, Marie and Marian; and daughter-in-law, Dee Clawson.
Friends may join the family for a Visitation on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM, at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 3477 Medina Road, Medina, OH 44256. A Funeral Service will be held at 7:30 PM. A Funeral Procession will form on Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 1:30 PM at the funeral home for Les’ inurnment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Seville.
