MARGUERITE L. STRAWMAN

Marguerite L. Strawman, 95, of Westerville, OH, formerly of Garrettsville, OH, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2025. She was born April 26, 1929, in Nelson Twp., OH, to the late Cecil and Cora (nee Leasure) Cannon. 

She grew up in Bristol, OH, and moved to Garrettsville, OH, after marrying Dwight “Dick” Strawman. They shared 71 years of marriage and raised four children. Together, Dick and Marguerite founded and managed Strawman's Auto Body and Glass in Ravenna, OH, where they operated the business for nearly 35 years. In 2016 they moved to Westerville to be closer to their family. In her younger years, Marguerite belonged to the Shin Kickers Card Club, Literary and Music Club, Red Hat Society, and the Ravenna Elks Club. During her children’s youth, she was active with Cub Scouts, Brownies, and 4-H. Marguerite loved tending to the orchard and garden with Dick, as well as playing card games with their friends. She is remembered for her kindness, devotion to family, and her faith in God.  

Marguerite will forever be missed by her children, Roger (Myra) Strawman, Roy (Jodi) Strawman, Elaine Zajac, and Eloise (Ray) Girt; grandchildren, Lindsey (Joey), Kelly (Brad), Meredith, Karen, Sara (Matt) and Megan; 11 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dick Strawman; son-in-law, Mike Zajac; grandsons, Junior Strawman and Reid Dill; brother, Carl Cannon, and sister, Irene Pugh.  

Please join the family for a visitation Thursday, February 20, 2025, 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. A funeral service will begin at the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor Sandra Greenberg officiating. Marguerite will be PRIVATELY buried at Drakesburg Cemetery, lovingly laid to rest with her husband.  

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Garrettsville United Methodist Church, 8223 Park Ave., Garrettsville, OH 44231, in Marguerite’s name, to honor her memory.
