Martin "Marty" Mikula was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He left this world suddenly on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the age of 62.
He was born in Ravenna to the late Donald and Shirley Mikula and was their youngest son. After graduating from Crestwood High School in 1977, he remained a lifelong resident of Mantua. He met his wife, Marlene (nee Oswald), on Leap Year day in 1980. They later married in 1982 and together they had two sons, Matt and Mark. Marty acquired many skills over the years in construction, working for Medhurst Masonry, Stamm Contracting, and Harper Well and Pump before starting his own business in water wells known as Marty's Pump.
He enjoyed listening to music and spending time with family and friends over an ice cold beer. He took pride in his collection of kitchen gadgets and especially liked to grill. He was a beef jerky connoisseur and would always send you home with a bag of his freshest batch. Marty was the life of the party and had a way of making everyone feel welcome. His sense of humor and kind heart will be deeply missed by all.
Marty is survived by his loving wife, Marlene; two sons, Matt (Erika) Mikula and Mark (Tawnya) Mikula; two granddaughters, Tessa and Nina, whom he adored; brothers, Mike (Gail) Mikula and Pete (Sharon) Mikula, as well as many extended family members and lifelong friends. He will also be greatly missed by his beloved dog, Milly.
To honor Marty, a memorial visitation will take place on Thursday, November 18, 2021, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services 8382 Center St. Garrettsville, OH 44231. A funeral service will immediately follow at the funeral home.
