MARY ELLEN ENSINGER

Mary Ellen Ensinger, 80, of Ravenna, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 22, 2014. She was born October 30, 1934 in Troy Twp., Ohio to Arthur and Ina (Dietrich) Kimpton.

Mary Ellen was a registered nurse at Robinson Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of the Garrettsville United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Singing Grannies of Garrettsville. Mary Ellen crocheted dozens of afghans for her family, enjoyed sewing, and was a member of the Village Piecemaker’s Quilt Club of Garrettsville. She was an excellent baker, known for her strawberry jam, and homemade pies baked from fresh picked fruits and berries.

Mary Ellen enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. The fellowship she shared with the Hall family while deer and turkey hunting renewed her appreciation for nature. She was a dedicated caregiver for many of her beloved family members. Mary Ellen enjoyed baby-sitting her grandchildren and nieces and cherished going to their school activities, concerts, church events, piano recitals, baseball games, and scouting events.

She is survived by her devoted son, Paul (Melinda) Ensinger of Freedom; loving daughter, Sue Ellen (Kevin) Hall of Diamond; dear brothers, Ralph (Therese) Kimpton of Willoughby, Clarence (Beth) Kimpton of Florida, and Walter (Diane) Kimpton of Troy Twp; and sister-in-law, Marcianne Kimpton of Burton; cherished grandchildren, Nicholas “Nick” Ensinger, Samantha Ensinger, Daniel Ensinger, Zack Hall and Sarah Hall and many loving nieces and nephews and her beloved extended Hall family.

Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, David Mitchell; and brother, Myron Kimpton.

Calling hours are 3-7 PM on Friday, December 26, 2014, at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio 44231. Funeral services will be at 11 AM on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Garrettsville United Methodist Church, 8223 Park Ave., Garrettsville, OH 44231 with Rev. Kris Patt officiating where visitation will be held from 10-11 AM prior to her funeral service. Burial will follow at Drakesburg Cemetery, Freedom Township, OH.
