Mary Ann Painley, 72, of Mantua, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015, surrounded by her family. Mary Ann was born on January 2, 1943 in Cleveland, Ohio to Andrew B. Conrad and Mary (Kristoff) Conrad. She married the love of her life, Tom, on October 7, 1961. They were married for 53 years.
Mary Ann worked at Hiram College for 24 years; the last 17 years as Registrar of the College. While employed with the college, she earned her B.A. in Social Sciences at Hiram and went on to earn her M. Ed. from Kent State University. She loved to travel with her husband, especially to Bed and Breakfast establishments. She had many fond memories of their train trip out West.
Mary Ann left her mark on numerous local organizations. She volunteered with the 4Cs as a member of the board, chair of the Christmas Craft Show and organized the distribution of gifts for the 4Cs clients at Christmas. She was a long time member of the Hiram Research Club and was an active supporter of the Portage APL, Rescue Village and the ASPCA. Mary Ann was a voracious reader.
While the aforementioned activities were important to Mary Ann, the most important part of her life was her family. Nothing gave her more joy than to visit her children and grandchildren. To Mary Ann, to be with family was to give fullness to life.
She is survived by her husband; Tom, children; Rick (Peggy) of Hiram, Robert of Florida, Brian (Julie) of Washington, Lynn (Dennis) of Stow, brothers; Bernie (Barb) of Washington, Guy of Vermont, Mark (Ginny) of Canton; Sisters; Kathy of N. Royalton and Georgie (Mike) of Mississippi.; grandchildren, Leanne, Lauren, Garrett, Connor, Katie, Sara, Thomas and Kailey.
Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 5-8 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St, Garrettsville, Ohio 44231. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2015 10 AM at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 342 S. Chillicothe Rd, Aurora, Ohio 44202. Private family burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery.
