MARY JUDITH STEVENS

October 12, 1940 — December 18, 2020

Mary J. Stevens (Judy), 80, of Freedom Township, was called to her eternal resting place on December 18, 2020. She entered this world on October 12, 1940 in Warren, OH, born to Dillion and Catherine Phelps.

She loved to swim and loved teaching children to swim. She loved her grandchildren very much and was known as Grandma Judy. She retired from Portage County Board of Mental Retardation Happy Day School where she loved her job, the kids, and her co-workers. She was a recipent of a heart transplant over 25 years ago. She taught CPR for the American Red Cross and attended The First Congregational Church of Freedom.

Judy is survived by her loving children David (Renee) Stevens , Brett (Andrea) Stevens, Carol (Tom) Frank; grandchildren, Alan (Breanna) Stevens, Meghan Stevens (Matt Stemnock), Todd (Heather) Frank, Greg (Carlie) Stevens, Erika Stevens, Carlie (Jacob) Parnaby; Great Grand Children Owen, Garrett, Brock, Jonah, Ilyanan, Lailyn, Leonard, Kane, Vivian, Tobias and Ira; siblings, brother Phil (Shirley) Phelps. Sister in laws, Betty(Richard) Petersen, Bonnie Potteiger and brother in law Glen Stevens and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Leonard Stevens, siblings Jake Phelps and Jeannie Fryman.

Contributions can be made to The First Congregational Church of Freedom in Lieu of flowers and can be mailed to Ann Wise, Treasurer, 6511 Peck Road Ravenna, Ohio 44266.

Per Judy's wishes, cremation has taken place, and all services are private. Care for Judy was entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home and Cremation Services 8382 Center Street Garrettsville Ohio 44231.
