Mary Ann Nitsky, 93, of Aurora, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Avenue of Macedonia, Macedonia, OH. She was born on July 8, 1928, in Cleveland, OH to the late Roy and Pollyana (nee Buzek) Lucas, Sr.
Mary Ann was a member of St. Ambrose church in Garrettsville. The church, the friendliness of the people, and the general small town atmosphere created a lifetime bond for Mary Ann with Garrettsville. Early in life she worked in Cleveland for Trans Canada Airlines, arranging and traveling with group tours. One of the many memorable trips Mary Ann made was with her mother to Czechoslovakia, her maternal grandparents' home. Trips to the Caribbean, fishing trips to Canada with her husband and friends, Alaska, and China all seemed like once in a lifetime adventures. Somehow she managed to get a TCA assignment in Florida and spent many winters away from the Ohio cold. At home, the holidays would see Mary Ann turn into a kolache baking machine. It wasn't Christmas without her kolaches. Visiting Mary Ann throughout her life, you would have always found books. An avid reader, especially fiction, best sellers, she lived in Garrettsville not far from the library. We will miss this well read, warm hearted traveler.
Mary Ann will be deeply missed by her loving brother, Homer Lucas, Sr., and her nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emmet Nitsky, and beloved siblings, Roy Lucas, Jr., Hazel Beatty, and Virginia Sheller.
Please join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 10692 Freedom St., Garrettsville, with Fr. Shawn Conoboy presiding.
