Maureen Celia Ploucha, 82, of Westfield Center, passed away on Sunday, September 17, 2017 following a period of declining health. She was born on July 31, 1935 in Cleveland, Ohio to Cleveland Police Officer Patrick F. Lavelle and Celia (McNulty) Lavelle, a beautiful Irish immigrant from Dooega-County Mayo, Ireland.
Maureen will be greatly missed by George Ploucha, her husband of 55 years; her four heartbroken sons, Michael of Jackson Township, Patrick (Erin) of Westfield Center, James of Seville, and Tony (Beth) of North Canton; beloved grandchildren Haley, Connor, Anthony, and Sophie; brother Robert Lavelle; sister-in-law Mary Pat Lavelle; best friend Joan McCourt; and her cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Maureen is preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Celia; three brothers, Reverend Raymond Lavelle, Daniel Lavelle, and Thomas Lavelle; sister Joan Holian; brother-in-law Tom Holian; and sister-in-law Dorothy Lavelle.
Maureen resided in Ohio her entire life, and lived the last 41 years in beautiful Westfield Center.
Maureen will be remembered for her relentless love for her family and friends; kind and selfless nature; sense of humor; and unwavering support of the Cleveland Indians. She took great pride in her Irish heritage and Catholic faith.
Maureen’s house was always open to others. Many of her sons’ friends spent more time at the Ploucha house than their own. She enjoyed travel and watching her son’s and grandchildren’s athletic, and many other activities. Heaven has gained one of the best armchair Jeopardy players!
The family welcomes relatives and friends to calling hours at Carlson Funeral Home, located at 3477 Medina Rd (Route 18) in Medina, on Thursday, September 21 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A funeral mass will be held Friday, September 22 at 10 AM at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, located at 60 High Street in Seville. Interment to follow at Westfield Center Cemetery. Following graveside services, a Celebration of Maureen’s Life will take place from noon to 4:00 pm at the Westfield Group Country Club Pavilion, 6500 Greenwich Road in Westfield Center.
The Ploucha family thanks the devoted caregivers at Brookdale Hospice and Brookdale Medina South for their amazing support during her final days.
