Michael Staschak, 91 years young, died on October 5 at the Veteran's Home in Sandusky. A former Marine, he is survived by his wife Rita and daughters Kathie Embacher and Laurie McCourt and their families.
After graduating from Drexel University, he worked for JC Penney's becoming their youngest manager in 1960. He was an entrepreneur owning various businesses, marketing shopping centers and selling advertising. Mike received the JJ Buchholzer Award in 1987. If healthy, he would never have stopped putting on his suit and tie every morning and going to work.
Mike was involved in many organizations including Rotary, Marine Corps League, and Catholic War Vets. He also founded the Akron Silver League for senior softball and basketball players. He was inducted into the Summit County Sports Hall of Fame in 2004.
A graveside service will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH on October 29 at 2 pm. Memorials may be made to the Field Local School District Scholarship Fund (Treasurer's Office) 2900 State Route 43, Mogadore, OH 44260
