Neal Thompson, of Bluffton SC, formerly of Medina passed away peacefully on January 6, 2017 surrounded by his family. He was born April 20, 1932 to Richard and May (Holken) Thompson.
After graduating from Berea High, he joined the Navy and served aboard the Toro, a Korean War era submarine. In 1957 he married Barbara Hildebrand and together they formed a family. Neal enjoyed woodworking and was a master craftsman. He built many model ships pieces of, furniture, and treasures. He also enjoyed gardening, boating, cooking, a good glass of scotch, and golfing with his close friends. He owned Knollwood Remodeling until his retirement.
He is survived by daughters Sally (Tom) Goff, Kristin (John) Idone, and son Lon (Leonisa) Thompson. He is also survived by Lolita Thompson and two stepchildren, 7 Grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, sister Charlotte Baldridge, many nieces and nephews and close friends.
Neal was preceded in death by his wife Barbara (Hildebrand) Thompson, sisters Jane Thompson and Ruth (Robert) Evans, brothers Richard (Mary Lou) and Ed( Betty)Thompson.
He was buried at Sunset Memorial Park in North Olmsted with full military honors.
