Nori Christine Possavino was born on May 12, 1959, in Younkers (Crestwood), New York to the late Eleanor and A. Jay Possavino. One of four siblings, Nori was a lively and athletic child who enjoyed horseback riding, swimming, and other activities. In 1966, the family moved to Pittsburgh, PA where Nori added downhill skiing to her favorite past times. She graduated from North Allegheny High School and earned a bachelor’s degree from John Carol University in Ohio. In her twenties and thirties, Nori lived the real life of a ‘Mad Men’ as a client executive on various high-profile ad campaigns. She got her start in Manhattan and later transferred to Denver where she could pursue skiing in the Rocky Mountains.
Her love of travel and cuisine took her to various European countries, some of them Spain and Italy, to the Caribbean. Nori spent 5 years in Chicago where she met and married Martin McCabe (dec.). Together, they spent another 5 years back in Pittsburgh, where Nori volunteered for various charities including raising money for a children’s hospital, Habitat for Humanity, and ski patrol alongside local legends like Franco Harris. Nori spent her final years near family in Cleveland, Ohio.
Nori was a talented writer, a very gifted cook, and offered the world quick wit and keen observations. Her love of sports continued to be a top passion throughout her life. Nori will be remembered as a loving and supportive aunt to her 7 nieces and 4 nephews. Her siblings treasure memories and laughter, even when silly things happened where she was the butt of the joke.
She is survived by her siblings, Jay (Susanne) Possavino, Anne Radvansky, and Catherine Jelilian; nieces, Lisa Colvin, Kristin Fitzgerald, Amy Root, Lauren Steiritz, Michelle Radvansky, Julie Keller, Madeline Jelilian; nephews, Justin Possavino, John Radvansky, Stephen Radvansky, and Alexander Jelilian; and uncle, Joseph Possavino.
May Nori’s light radiate in heaven as it has here on earth. She will be missed dearly by family and friends.
The Passavino family has entrusted Nori’s care to Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, Brunswick.
