It is with shock and sadness that we announce the passing of Norma Lesnak on February 15, 2019. She died at Hospice of Medina County after unexpected complications following surgery. Norma loved helping people, making them happy and bringing joy and beauty to their lives. She was a lot of fun to be with, a very hard worker and enjoyed immersing herself into creative projects, and events.
Norma was born in Pennsylvania, graduated from high school, completed floral design schooling, and apprenticed with a small family business. She got married, moved to Ohio in the late 60’s, and then settled in Brunswick to raise her family. She was a floral designer for 30 years at Ar-Kay Florist, a bustling hub of Brunswick. Norma became a personal friend when you shared your life experiences with her. Weddings were her favorite.
In lieu of retirement, Norma continued to devote herself to civic programs such as the Chamber of Commerce and the Helping Hands Project. In addition, she was an active and cherished member of the Brunswick Optimist Club. Norma really enjoyed being involved in their Youth Appreciation Night, Pancake Breakfast and the annual Christmas collection of gifts and a dinner for the residents of the Battered Women’s Shelter of Medina County.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert, her beloved children, daughter, Michelle, and her son, Rodd. In addition, she has a cherished son-in-law, Ron, and a granddaughter, Anna, who was very dear to her. She has an older brother, Roger, whom she looked up-to and loved. Norma also has four nieces and three nephews, that will dearly miss her.
She is joining her loving family, mother, Marion, father, Daniel, brother, Merill, and her sister in-law, Margie.
She was proud of her family, enjoyed her time with them and loved to celebrate holidays and special events together. She was a good, loyal friend to many. She will be dearly missed and remain in our thoughts and prayers.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 10:00 to 12:00 pm at The Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick, Ohio, where a Memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m. A time of conversation and remembrance with coffee and cake will follow immediately after the service.
