“Stormin Norman” Bragiel, 86, of Medina, Ohio set sail for his final voyage on December 27, 2014 from Western Reserve Masonic Community. Norm was born May 26, 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio to Peter and Marie (nee Madro) Bragiel.
He ran away from home when he was 14 years old and joined the Merchant Marines. He served his country in WWII, Korean War, and Vietnam. Post war, he worked many years for Cleveland Cliffs where he was Chief Engineer on many ships including the Walter A. Sterling, Edward B. Greene, and William G. Mather. He ended his career being employed at The Interlake Steamship Company. Norm was a ramblin’ gamblin’ man who enjoyed playing the ponies, come out rolls of 7 or 11, enjoyed a good corned beef sandwich, and don’t forget the sauerkraut balls!
Norm is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jeanne of Medina, Ohio; son, John (Barb) Bragiel of Silver Lake, Ohio; daughters, Bridget (Jim) Cassesa of Hinckley, Ohio, and J. P.
