Owen King Thomas, 98, of Garrettsville, went home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, June 21, 2023. He was born December 31, 1924, in Winchester, KY, to the late Thomas and Cora (Mann) Thomas.
He was a graduate of Wilbur Wright High School in Dayton, then proudly signed up, at the age of 17, to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. While in service, Owen was aboard a submarine where he saw action in World War II, then was called back into action during the North Korean conflict. Owen attended Cleveland State University and was a member of the Covenant Bible Church of Garrettsville. He was a computer programmer for Ohio Bell and belonged to the Brecksville chapter of Telephone Pioneers of America. Owen enjoyed woodworking, building computers, and found honor in being a Gentleman Farmer.
Owen will be deeply missed by his wife, Kathryn (Emms) Thomas; children, Carla Teitel, of Spring Hill, FL, Daniel R. Thomas, and Tammy D. Wilthew; grandchildren, Monica, Tim, Isaac, Nathan, Madeleine, Molena, Seth, Asher, Elisha, Emmett, and Annie; brother, Gene Thomas, as well as many nephews, nieces, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Jim, Dennis, Dorothy, and Beulah "Bea", and Jerry.
Owen was privately buried in Park Cemetery. Care for Owen was entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.
