PATRICIA ELIZABETH FAY

January 28, 1927 — August 27, 2017

PATRICIA ELIZABETH BIXLER FAY, 90, of Ravenna, died on Sunday August 27, 2017. Born January 28, 1927 in Massillon, Ohio, to Floyd and Elizabeth Bixler; graduated Hiram High School in 1945; graduated Massillon State Hospital School of Nursing 1948; attended Ohio State University School of Nursing where she met Richard Fay.

Patricia and Richard married in 1950, moved to Massillon, where they had their first child, Katherine; shortly thereafter, they moved to Hiram where they spent the next 50 years of their life. After raising three children, she worked 23 years as a registered nurse at Robinson Memorial Hospital, Hiram College Infirmary, Anna Maria and The Portage County Nursing Home. In 2002, they moved to Garrettsville, where they resided for 15 years.

Patricia was a woman of many passions and interests, traveling to almost every state and many countries around the globe. She adored traveling with her husband, Richard, who was a Director for Bixler Tours, and her interest in history, arts and culture enriched everyone who knew her. She was devoted to her family and home, making it a welcome place for friends and family. She loved gardening, movies, theater, and music, and she was an avid reader. She had a wry and lively sense of humor, and an admirable inner strength that she exhibited even as she fought cancer in her final months and days.

She is survived by daughter Katherine (Tony) Muscari of Ravenna; sons Richard (Freda) of New Jersey, and Christopher (Claire) of Virginia; grandchildren Lorena (Tyson) Vines of Aurora, and Alex Muscari of Akron; great-grandchild Giuliana Vines; sister Marilane Spencer and brother Sam Bixler, both of Hiram; and sister-in-law Joan Rogers of New Jersey.

Patricia was preceded in death by brother Perry Floyd Bixler and her beloved husband of 66 years, Richard.

The family would like to thank the staff at UH Hospice and the caregivers for the wonderful care they provided for their mother.
