SSG PHILLIPPE R. WORKMAN

July 24, 1989 — March 16, 2023

SSG Phillippe R. Workman, 33, of Ft. Jackson, SC, formerly of Windham, OH, went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 16, 2023. He was born July 24, 1989, in Ravenna, OH, to the late Andre Edward Workman and Estrella Ray Jones.

He was born and raised in Windham, OH, where he spent 5 years playing the snare drums for the Silver Starlites, as well as perfected his skills in basketball. Phil was an outstanding athlete who received numerous awards throughout his high school career. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2011, and upon graduation of Boot Camp, volunteered to attend Airborne School in Ft. Benning, GA. Phil was Airborne; a jump master that always found a thrill in jumping out of aircrafts. He lived a full life, always finding ways to be adventurous. Phil enjoyed playing video games, riding his motorcycle, snowboarding, and most of all, playing basketball and golf. His love for basketball and golf was shared with his precious daughter, as he wished for her to enjoy the sports as he did. Phil was known for being a comedian, singing, dancing, and participating in skits and plays. He will be forever missed by his family, friends, and anyone who was lucky enough to have him in their lives.

Phil will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Zahra Zounib-Workman, who was blessed to share almost 6 years of marriage; daughter, Hazel Lee Workman; mother, Estrella Ray Jones; siblings, Deallo Workman, of Brooklyn, NY, Diane Workman, of Wickliffe, OH, Junna Jones, of Dallas, TX, Andrea Hudson, of Warren, OH, Andrea Brown, of Orlando, FL, Marlene McNeil, of Orlando, FL, and many foster brothers and sisters that Phil was proud to have; mother-in-law, Fiore Laura; father-in-law, Zounib Abdelhadi; brother-in-law, Zounib Omar; cousin (like a brother), Larry Jones, and many nephews, nieces, and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Please join the family in honoring Phil's life at his alma mater, Windham High School, 9530 Bauer Ave, Windham, OH 44288, for a visitation on Sunday, March 26, 2023, from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. A funeral service will begin at the school at 1:00 P.M., with Rev. John McGahee, Sr., officiating, with full Military Honors following. Services for Phil were entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.

Donations would be graciously accepted by the Wounded Warrior Project, https://www.onceasoldier.org/donate/ , 281 Servia Drive, St. Johns, FL 32259, in Phil's name, to honor the passion Phil felt for his fellow soldiers, as well as his desire to promote mental health advocacy for his brothers and sisters in arms.
