Phyllis Jean Payne (nee Bell) Blankenship, age 85, of Lagrange, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Hospice of Medina County.
She was born on March 10, 1934 in Jeffrey, WV to the late Scott and Brookie (nee Pauley) Bell.
Phyllis was employed on the assembly line at Ford Motor, retiring in 1991. Phyllis was a member of the UAW Local #1250 and the Lagrange Church of God.
Phyllis enjoyed being with her family, crosswords puzzles, listening to gospel and country music, and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan.
She is survived by her loving children, Frank (Jane) Payne, Mike Payne, David (Robin) Payne, Deborah (Dale) Hopkins, Dale Payne and Scott (Jackie) Payne; 24 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; dear brothers, Jack Bell, Don (Arbutus) Bell, and Larry Bell.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her first husband, Wilmer Payne Sr. and second husband, James J. Blankenship; son, Wilmer “Butch” Payne, Jr.; sister-in-law, Ruth Bell; brother-in-law, Charles Javins; sisters, Anna Powers and Delores Javins; and brother, Garfield “Ginkie”Bell.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 19, 2019 from 5-8 pm at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road, Brunswick, (1/2 mile south of Route 303). A Funeral service will be held for Phyllis on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 10:00 am at Lagrange Church of God, 502 N. Center Street, Lagrange, Ohio 44050. Pastor Daniel Wright will officiate. (PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH). Burial will take place on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 1:00 pm Barker Cemetery, Ashford, West Virginia.
