Photo: Obituary: Raymond A. Skully, 88 of Brunswick, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on September 18, 2013. He was born in 1925 in Cleveland, Ohio to Frank and Marija (nee Stupica).

Ray was a WWII Veteran of the 101st Airborne, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, G Company, and an original “Toccoa Man.” Ray jumped into Normandy on D-Day, fought in Operation Market Garden and celebrated the end of the war in Austria. He was the recipient of the Bronze Star with an oak leaf cluster, the Purple Heart with an oak leaf cluster, Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Medal, American Campaign Occupation Medal and the EAME with one arrowhead and four campaign stars.

Ray is survived by his children, Raymond (Dana), Frank (Theresa Medina), Donna (David) Hebda, Ron (Regina); cherished grandchildren, Nicholas, Scott, Kimberly, Frank, and Jessica. He also leaves behind good friends, Rich Riley, Jerry Lemons and a host of friends from VFW Post 9520.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Edward; wife Noreen (nee Kiszken); siblings, Frank, Louis, Mary, William, Victor, Edward, Ladislaus, Florence, and Fred.

Friends may join the family for visitation on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 8:00AM to 9:30AM with a memorial service to follow at 9:30 AM at Carlson Funeral Home, 1642 Pearl Road, (1/2 mile south of Route 303) Brunswick, OH 44212. Inurnment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the VFW Building Fund, Post 9520, P.O. Box 1614, Brunswick, OH 44212.
