RENATE HORNBERGER

June 10, 1938 — December 26, 2021

Renate E. Hornberger, 83, of Brunswick, passed away Sunday, December 26, 2021. She was born June 10, 1938, in Erlangen, Germany to the late Erich and Herta (nee Burrow) Arntholtz.

She worked at Sears and Roebuck in the jewelry department in Southland and at Donut Land in Brunswick for a few years. Renate drove a bus for 15 years for Brunswick City Schools enjoying the community's treasured children. She then became an Emergency Medical Technician for Carlson's before becoming the Executive Secretary for Carlson Ambulance Transport Service for over 30 years. She was always a hands-on operator taking great care of those she served and her "boys" who worked on her squads. Renate retired, but never lost interest in how the service was doing. Being a grandmother and great grandmother was her number one priority. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, and donating many lap blankets to the VA hospitals. She loved shopping, collecting snowmen, Tinkerbell, and Precious Moments.

Renate will be dearly missed by her dear children, Thomas (Bridget) Hornberger, Susanne (Kenneth) Baca, Ilene (Don) Jesse, Irene (Gary) Filbin; cherished grandchildren, Brittany (James) Bechter, Kenny (Emily) Baca; Lauren Jesse, Noah Jesse, Erich Jesse, Olivia Jesse, Isabella Jesse, Emily Filbin; great grandchildren, Oliver, Madelyn, and KJ; sister, Brigitte (Walter) Besendorfer of Germany; nephew, Markus; and niece, Eva.
