Photo: Obituary: Rev. Edward Paul Bartunek, 88 of Copeland Oaks in Sebring, Ohio, formerly of Hiram, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 5, 2013. He was born June 24, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio to Emil F. and Rose (Vrana) Bartunek. He held a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Johnson Bible College, a Bachelor of Divinity from Hartford Theological Seminary , a Master of Arts and a Doctorate in Religious Education from Hartford Seminary Foundation. He served many congregations including Cortland Christian Church, Bazetta Christian Church, Euclid Ave. Christian Church, First Christian Church of Youngstown, and Hiram Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) among others. He was longtime Kiwanis member. Rev. Bartunek enjoyed woodworking, his specialties being grandfather clocks, Windsor chairs, Shaker boxes and bird carving. He is survived by his son, Ted (Michiko) Bartunek of Kent, WA; daughter, Saunsaree “Chrissy” Simon of Akron, OH; grandchildren, Joe, Nicholas, Micah, Jordan and Jared; great-grandchildren Dominic and Isabella; special friend, Eloise Butler and foreign exchange students, Eckhart, Hans and Lisa. He was preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife, Winifred and sister, Marjorie Meek-Craig. There will be a Celebration of Rev. Bartunek’s life at Copeland Oaks in Sebring on Saturday, April 13, 2013 at 1 P.M. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Hiram Village, OH. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that contributions be made in Rev. Bartunek’s name to the Sebring Presbyterian Church, 525 N. 16th. St., Sebring, Ohio 44672 or Copeland Oaks, 800 S 15th.
