RICHARD ABEREGG

June 9, 1929 — March 6, 2023

Richard Eugene Aberegg, 93, passed away in his home in Medina, Ohio, surrounded by his family on March 6, 2023. He was born in Palmyra, Ohio in 1929 to Otto and Emma Aberegg.

He graduated from Palmyra High School in 1947 and maintained close relationships with his classmates throughout his lifetime. Richard was a veteran of the Korean War, and a graduate of The Ohio State University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He married Eleanor Lois Hess in 1956 and they settled in Alliance, Ohio with their three children, William Dale, Keith and Nora. He worked for Alliance Machine, Morgan Engineering and later at Rapistan in Grand Rapids, Michigan. In retirement, he and Eleanor returned to Ohio in 2001 to enjoy being close to their children, grandchildren, and recently great grandchildren.

Richard is best remembered as a loving husband and father, and for his quick wit and intellect. He was also very innovative and had several patents. He loved to explore new inventions with one always underway. He engaged in many athletic activities with his family. Over the years, as an avid golfer, he shared his love of the game with his family. He is fondly remembered by family and friends for storytelling (especially the farm stories), hilarious card games and great fun times.

Richard is survived by his devoted and caring wife, Eleanor, and children William Dale (Ellen) Aberegg of Columbus, Ohio, Keith (Jodi) Aberegg of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Nora (Skip) Hirvela, Dallas, Texas. He had many loving relationships with grandchildren Stephen Aberegg, Andrew Aberegg; Lauren Aberegg, Matthew Aberegg and Olivia Aberegg Rodgers; and Ben Hirvela, Katie Hirvela and Carly Hirvela Waller as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held at a later date. Care for Richard was entrusted to Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services 3477 Medina Road, Medina, Ohio 44256.
