Richard Joseph Murray, age 93, of Brunswick passed away peacefully in his sleep on April 29, 2022. He was born on April 17, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio to the late Joseph and Lucille (nee Feltes) Murray.
He was a kind, gentle, most grateful, and intelligent husband, father, and grandfather. A railroad yard brakeman/conductor with Conrail, PENN/Central & New York Central Railroads for 40 years, retiring in 1991. Richard served in the Naval Reserves as a Sea Bee from 1949 to 1954. A member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, UTU Local 16383 since 1955. Former member of Carpenter Local 705. Richard enjoyed traveling, Jeopardy Game Show, crossword puzzles, and fixing things. He was the family Google for information, but more than anything he loved spending time with his family. Richard had a never-ending love and compassion for his Heaven here on Earth, "The State of Michigan."
Richard resided in the community since 1958, where he and his wife, Mary, raised their 6 children. He will be dearly missed by his children, Patrick, Catherine (Donald) Peterson, Joseph (Carolyn), and Victoria Hrouda; daughter in laws, Carol and Debra; grandchildren, Jennifer, Heather, Jessica, Jean, Joshua, Michael R., Patrick S. Jr., Amanda, Sellena, Richard, Courtney, Chloe, Tyler, Chelsea, Mary Jo, Aliya, Joseph, Christy, and Eric; 15 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; sister in law, Agnes Hogan; 5 nephews; 1 niece; and several generations of his Feltes family relatives.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary; sons, Richard T. and Michael A.; son in law Charles Hrouda; and grandson, Jonathon.
Please join the family for visitation on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Carlson Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Rd. (1/2 mile south of route 303), Brunswick. Prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at 9:00 am with procession to Saint Ambrose Catholic Church, 929 Pearl Rd, Brunswick, for Mass at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, 6303 Center Rd, Valley City at 12:30 pm.
