Photo: Obituary: Richard E. Perkins, 77 of Nelson, passed away on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Longmeadow Care Center in Ravenna. He was born July 29, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio to Shephard and Billie Perkins. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Richard was a school teacher for many years at Garrettsville and Freedom schools, before becoming a clerk and mail carrier in Garrettsville. After he retired from the post office, he became the administrator of Garrettsville Christian School, and was a member of the Covenant Bible Fellowship Church in Garrettsville. Richard enjoyed coaching little league baseball for many years. He is survived by his wife, Kristen (Kelker) Perkins of Nelson whom he married December 23, 1956, son Timothy of Windham, daughter Rebeckah (Loy) Hibbs of Phoenix, Arizona, brother Thomas (Sue) of Chicago; three grandchildren Mallory, Sarah and Elizabeth and one great grandchild, Aiden. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231. Funeral services will be at 1 PM on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 Covenant Bible Fellowship Church, 8146 High St., Garrettsville, OH. 44231.
