Bob Wenz officiating. Photo: Obituary:Richard D. Schlegel, 84 of Brunswick passed away on July 29, 2011 at his residence. He was born October 29, 1926 in Cleveland to Howard and Lillian (nee Lynden) Schlegel. Mr. Schlegel was a veteran, serving in the Navy during WW II and the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a Surgical Assistant; after retiring, he spent 13 years as a School Bus Driver for the Brunswick School System. Surviving are his loving wife Anne Marie (nee Duffy), children; John (Debbie) Schlegel, Richard Jr. (Jean) Schlegel, Suzanne Pleta, Richard (Patricia) Lawson, Michael (Barbara) Lawson, and his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Howard and Lyndon Schlegel and daughter Karen Schlegel. Friends may join the family for visitation on Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (½ mile South of Route 303), Brunswick. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 1, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Ambrose Parish Church 929 Pearl Road Brunswick with visitation one hour prior to service at 9:00 AM at the church with Fr. Bob Wenz officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland. Family requests memorial donations may be made to Hospice Services of Southwest General, 18659 Drake Road Strongsville, Ohio 44136.
