Richard C. Soltis, Sr., 83, of Windham, passed away on August 12, 2015 at his home. He was born on October 27, 1931, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Takach) Soltis.
He was a dryer operator for Silica Sand. Richard was a member of the Church of Christ in Windham. He enjoyed tinkering and building things. Richard loved to watch western movies and spending time with his beloved family and friends.
He is survived by his children, Becky Zemek of Las Vegas, Richard (Peggy) Soltis, Jr. of Newton Falls, Frances (Stephen) Hosea of Atwater and Eugene Soltis of Windham; brother, Joseph Soltis of Virginia; 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; special friends with whom he made his home, Loretta (Skip Whittemore) Hartley; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert Soltis; sisters, Elizabeth Neubert and Barbara Soltis; son in law, Charles Zemek; grandson, Joseph Soltis.
Calling hours will be Saturday, August 15, 2015 from 10 – 12 pm at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, Ohio. Services will begin at 12 PM at the funeral home with Evangelist Jeff Wyeth officiating. Burial will be in Windham Cemetery.
