Robert J. Amor, 81, of Garrettsville, went home to his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 10, 2022. He was born on June 9, 1941, in Cleveland, to the late John and Helen (nee Endress) Amor.
In his youth, Bob was very active in his church youth group and accomplished becoming an Eagle Scout. He loved to sing, and was a member in his high school choir, as well as his college choir at the University of Mount Union, which enabled him to travel to Oslo, Norway to participate in the World Conference on Methodism. UMU was also where he was fortunate to meet the love of his life, Pat. Bob sang with every church choir that he was associated with, the most recent being the Garrettsville United Methodist Church Chancel Choir, where he was an active member upon passing. Bob was instrumental in getting the UMC involved with the gathering of Christmas gifts for the Adopt a Child/People Tree organization for many years, as he was passionate for their cause. He was honored to be an educator at James A. Garfield High School, but saying he was a teacher is too simple; Bob cherished acting as a counselor, advisor, and friend to his students. He enjoyed working with students as Advisor to the Junior Class and the Interact Club as well as coaching the golf team to 5 PCL championships, an 8th place finish at the state tournament and a 6th place finish at the state tournament the following year.
Bob will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Pat (Campbell) Amor, who was blessed to share over 59 years of marriage; children, Julie (Daniel) Brawn and Doug (Shannon) Amor; grandchildren, Olivia, Andrew, Emelia Amor; great-granddaughter Luna Smith, and bonus grandchildren Tawnya (Mark) Mikula, Brad Smith and great-granddaughter Nina Mikula.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Eric Smith.
Please join the family in honoring Bob's life for a memorial service on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 2:00 P.M., at the Garrettsville United Methodist Church, 8223 Park Ave, Garrettsville, OH 44231, with the Rev. Richard Thewlis officiating. Care for Bob was entrusted to Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 8382 Center St., Garrettsville, OH 44231.
Donations would be graciously accepted by the Garrettsville United Methodist Church (for the Chancel Choir), 8223 Park Ave, Garrettsville, OH 44231 in Bob's name, to honor his memory.
