Robert G. Calkins, 83 of Brunswick passed away on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Fairview Hospital. He was born June 22, 1927 in Cleveland to Norman and Annabel (nee Johnson) Calkins.
He was a 1946 graduate of Parma High School, a United States Army Veteran, and a Supervisor for NASA before retiring after 32 years of service. Mr. Calkins was a member of the Boy Scouts for over 50 years and enjoyed boating, ceramics, camping, and travel.
He is survived by his wife Patricia Ann (nee Marx) Calkins; children Donna (Terry) Deahl, Cheryl (Brian) Smith, and Teresa Shad; brothers Donald (Valerie) Calkins and John Roger Calkins; sister-in-law Merna Calkins; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 7 nieces; 3 nephews; and 2 God-children.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Valerie J.; son Norman; parents; brother Fred; and sister-in-law Jean.
Friends may join the family for visitation on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Carlson Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 1642 Pearl Road (1/2 mile South of Route 303), Brunswick. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home. Entombment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Cleveland.
