Robert V. Gharky, 88, of Garrettsville, passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2020, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 12, 1932, in Auburn Township Ohio to Frank and Mary Rose (Kalina) Gharky. He was a graduate of the Bainbridge Twp., OH High School class of 1950.
He was a three-time Past Commander and treasurer of the Mantua American Legion Post #193, a proud 50-plus year member of the Masonic Lodge Golden Gate 245 in Chagrin Falls, OH and, Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Valley of Cleveland. He was also a 49-year member of Crescent Chapter #7 Order of the Eastern Star having served as Worthy Patron on 4 occasions. Bob loved restoring old Hudson cars, camping and yard work...especially mowing the yard... and, working in the garage fixing things...usually with duct tape? He was proud to have served his country in the United States Army from 1952-1954, serving in Korea. He was employed for 44 years at TRW in Euclid in the machine shop and nuclear divisions. Was a charter member of Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Bainbridge Twp. OH.
Bobs memory will be cherished forever by his loving wife of 57 years Virginia (Rutledge), sons Ken (Regina), Frank (Jocelyn), grandchildren Justine, Nathan (Lisa), Chelsea (David Krainz), Hannah and Jonathan, and 3 great-grandchildren John, Kylie and James.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, siblings Laurene Nelson, Margaret Pilny and Sylvester Gharky.
Please join Bob's family for visitation on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mallory-DeHaven-Carlson Funeral Home & Cremation Services 8382 Center St. Garrettsville. A Masonic Service will be held at 2:00 PM with a Funeral Service immediately following, with Rev. Robert Henderson officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery with Military Honors.
