Robert H. Goessler, 79, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully on May 2, 2016 with his family by his side. He was born on September 24, 1936 in Pittsburgh, PA.
Bob is survived by Donna, his loving wife of 55 years. They shared a special bond not only as devoted partners, but also as best friends.
After serving in the U.S. Army, Bob decided to devote his life to the education and development of young people. He earned degrees from California State Teachers College and Duquesne University, and began his teaching career in Pittsburgh. Bob worked for the Ohio Department of Education for many years before moving to Southeast Ohio where he served as the Principal of River High School and as the Director of a workshop for the disabled.
Through all of his years in education, Bob was able to positively impact the lives of countless youth. As a caring, compassionate voice of reason, he was able to help many kids reach their full potential. Bob enjoyed fishing, golfing, woodworking, watching sports, and traveling, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his family. In retirement, he especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren participate in sports and other activities. As a member of the Brunswick United Methodist Church, he spent many hours as a volunteer for the church food pantry.
He is also survived by his son, David (Kimberly); grandchildren, Kyle and Courtney; and sister, Rebecca Novak. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene and Nellie (nee Schmidt) Goessler; one sister, Geraldine Egerman; and one brother, Eugene Goessler.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Brunswick United Methodist Food Pantry, 1395 Pearl Road, Brunswick, OH 44212, or the charity of your choice.
